Join the Next Superyacht Nanny Community Call

One of the things I’ve always wanted Superyacht Nanny to be is more than somewhere you come when you’re looking for a job. I want it to be a genuine professional community: somewhere nannies can build their network, share experiences, learn from one another and feel connected to others working in what can be a very unusual industry.

That’s exactly why I run the Superyacht Nanny Community Calls.

Our next Community Call is coming up, and if you work as a superyacht, travel, UHNW or private nanny... or you’re working towards breaking into this part of the industry, then you’re very welcome to join us!

What is a Superyacht Nanny Community Call?

The Community Calls are informal online meet-ups designed to bring nannies together from across the industry.

There’s no presentation to sit through and no expectation that you need to arrive knowing anyone. You don't even need to have your camera on if you prefer not to!

We talk about what’s happening in the industry, current challenges, career development, different types of roles and the things people are experiencing in their work.

It’s also a chance to ask questions, share your own experiences and learn from people at completely different stages of their careers.

Building your network before you need it

Networking is incredibly important in the private childcare industry, but I think we sometimes approach it the wrong way.

Your network shouldn't only become important when you're suddenly looking for your next position.

The strongest professional networks are built gradually. They come from showing up, getting to know people, contributing to conversations, helping others and staying connected to the industry even when you're happily employed.

This becomes particularly important for freelance and travel nannies, where opportunities can appear quickly and personal recommendations carry a huge amount of weight.

You never know who might know a family looking for exactly your skillset six months from now, who might recommend an agency you haven't come across, or who has already worked on the yacht you're considering joining.

But networking isn't simply about finding jobs. Having people around you who understand this industry is valuable in itself.

Because private childcare can be isolating

Working as a nanny is unusual because your workplace is somebody else's private life.

Add travel, yachts or UHNW households into the mix and that environment can become even more complex. You might be working incredibly closely with a family while simultaneously being thousands of miles away from your own friends, family and professional network.

There isn't always a colleague sitting beside you who understands exactly what you're navigating.

That's why I think creating spaces for professional connection matters.

Sometimes the most useful thing you can hear is another experienced nanny saying, "I've dealt with that too - here's how I approached it." Other times, you might be the person with the experience that somebody else needs.

You don't need to be an experienced yacht nanny

One of the things I particularly want to encourage is a mixture of experience within these calls.

You absolutely don't need ten years of UHNW or superyacht experience to contribute!! Equally, if you've been doing this for years, your perspective is enormously valuable. Some of the best conversations happen when people with completely different experiences are able to exchange ideas.

Come along and be part of the conversation

The Community Call isn't intended to be another webinar where you log on, mute yourself and listen to me talk for an hour.

It's a conversation.

Bring a cup of tea or glass of whatever you fancy, introduce yourself, ask questions, tell us what you're working towards and share what's happening in your corner of the industry.

You might leave with a new contact, a different perspective on something you've been struggling with, an idea for your next career move or simply the reassurance that there are other people navigating the same strange and brilliant world of private childcare.

The Superyacht Nanny community has grown enormously, and I want to make sure that as it grows, we continue creating genuine opportunities for connection rather than simply increasing numbers on a screen.

I hope to see you at the next Community Call.
